Last week we took a break from our regular homeschool routine/activities. I was nursing a bad cold (I wasn't exactly at my most focused) and it was Halloween (the kids were not exactly at their most focused). I figured it was a good time for a puzzle I'd purchased earlier in the year... the Global Puzzle. So out came the box with all 600 pieces of countries and oceans. We set it up on the dining room table (it was going to be 3 x 1.5 feet when finished) and got to sorting.

Ben was most excited about this but Madeline helped from time to time. Charles got in on the game too and helped with quite a bit of it. We finished the border on the first evening, worked on the oceans the next day, and on the third Ben and I finished putting the oceans together and started working on the countries. When I left to start making dinner, Ben put the last continent together. Here is the final product:

It was a great geography review and a fun family activity. Ben was really proud of his work on this and had great patience working on it. Madeline had fun helping us find pieces too. I'm sure we'll be getting this one out again and again... but only when I can spare the dining room table for a few days!
